Commodore’s Greeting

Greetings and welcome back to the island!

On April 14th, we opened the club for the season about a month earlier than normal; possibly the earliest opening on record for our PLYC!  In addition to the usual suspects of the day, we also had many new members pitching in for their first experience on the island!  The docks are in and the clubhouse looks great!  To those new members, if you thought that was fun, wait till you come to our parties!

It’s going to be a great year; with 17 new members, 47 returning members, an enthusiastic Board, an Historian willing to preserve our rich history, a great line up of parties, including the August party big event with musical entertainment by Robby Vee (BRING GUESTS!), happy hours, Beautification days, paddleboard demo day, Family Day and don’t forget our Christmas Party, it’s certain to be one of the best years yet!  Last year we adopted a new party venue and we’ve learned from your feedback that you want a blend of the old and new, so hopefully you’ll find that we’ve tried to create more fun opportunities for all!  Feel free to contact myself or any board members if you have more feedback or suggestions!

PLYC is a unique experience and only the members can make this real to others.  If you know someone that is interested in the club and think they would enjoy being part of our club, we encourage you to invite them to a party so they too can experience the value of the PLYC and its members. Thanks to all of you for making the PLYC the wonderful club that it is!

Be mindful of the low water levels, use caution when mooring to avoid the rocks and remember… it’s always “5:00 somewhere”!

Fair winds to all,

Harry Alcorn Jr.
